  1. If you are ready to become a PADI Instructor, enroll in the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).
  2. During your training at the IDC, you will expand your knowledge as a certified divemaster or assistant, while developing your public speaking and teaching skills. You will also hone your in-water drills to demonstration levels, and learn how to properly assess the in-water drills performed by student divers.
  3. ο»ΏUpon successful completion of the IDC, you will attend a PADI Instructor Exam conducted by PADI Regional Office staff. This is the final step in earning your PADI Instructor certification. The Instructor Exam is exclusive to PADI and ensures that all new PADI Instructors are prepared for real-world teaching prior to certification.

Skills


You have to execute the 24 diving exercises of the Exercise Evaluation, obtaining a minimum score of 82 total points.


Swim 400 metres/yards without stopping, without swimming aids and using any stroke or combination thereof.


Complete 10 minutes of flotation, moving or floating without using swimming aids and wearing only a bathing suit.

Exam Standards and Procedures

Earn a minimum score of 75 percent on the PADI System, Standards and Procedures Exam.

Presentations in confined waters


Present at least four Confined Water (in water) teaching presentations, earning a minimum score of 3.4 in at least two


Open Water Presentations


Present at least two integrated teaching presentations (two exercises) in open water (in the water), earning a minimum score of 3.4 on each exercise for one presentation
